This course is for the person seeking enrichment in the area of art. Emphasis is on drawing, painting, crafts, and beginning sculpture.

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: As a result of having taking this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the principles and elements of design.
2. Demonstrate the proper use and techniques of the various mediums of expression (charcoal, chalk, tempera, water color,
ink, clay, glass, etc...).
3. Demonstrate proper use of tools and equipment safety.
4. Demonstrate the ability to properly compose work in various mediums.
5. Demonstrate the ability to use self-critique techniques in various art projects.
6. Identify some of the following: aesthetic qualities of works of art, major periods of art history, some prominent artists, and some important styles of art.

Sculpture is a hands-on experience for students to explore various three-dimensional art
media. Emphasis is placed on plaster carving, paper-macheā??, paper sculpture, and clay.

1. Demonstrate techniques in various sculpture mediums.
2. Demonstrate proper methods of care for tools and materials.
3. Demonstrate proper tools for each medium.
4. Work individually as well as a group.

This course is primarily for students who wish to continue their art experience with an emphasis on design, sculpture, graphics, and paintings media, with an introduction into ceramics.

2. Demonstrate techniques for media use in painting, sculpture, graphics, printings, and crafts.
3. Demonstrate the evaluative techniques used to select the medium.
4. Demonstrate proper use of tools and equipment with safety.
5. Demonstrate the ability to compose original work in the medium used.
6. Demonstrate the ability to use self-critique techniques in various art projects.
7. Recognize and use the terms and names of materials associated with a given project.
8. Identify some of the following: aesthetic qualities of works of art, major periods of art history, some prominent artists, and some important styles of art.
